Berries and cherries market is growing in the United States

According to information provided by Insider - a market investigation company for natural products - the cultivation and commerce of fruits is expanding every year in the United States and Mexico. The highlight goes to berries, that had the highest income in this section of products in 2011 - 7.7% of the total of North-American profits.

According to Melissa Abbott, executive for the Hartman Group, "this year, there are growth expectations for blueberry and cherry, due to the growing demand of food and drinks prepared with these regional fruits".

According to Steve Lutz, vice-president for the Perishable Group (a consulting company specialized in fresh products from the United States), several kinds of berries took a good place in the market last year. Strawberries got 52.5% of the total and blueberries got 26.7%. Blueberries also grew 2.3% regarding 2010.

Ashwin Raj Ravinder, investigator and analyst for Frost & Sullivan, said that the demand for blueberries is growing because consumers know more and more the healthy properties of these fruits and include them in their daily diet, preferring it natural rather than frozen.
