Erik Tom of Fruitpoint:

"Volumes of pineapple much less; prices reasonable"

When last year the pineapple market had problems with volumes, now the volumes supplied are rather limited. This as told by Erik Tom of Fruitpoint, the daughter company and representative of Banacol and Venecia in Europe. "The prices of the pineapples are around 7,50/8,00 euro at the moment and for the smaller sizes prices are still somewhat lower.

"These are reasonable prices and I expect that the pineapple prices will decrease during the coming weeks. However, for next week I expect an increase. We will receive a lot less pineapples the coming weeks, but then again the summer fruit is coming onto the market at the moment and that could also have influence on the pineapple market."
