REWE reach more than 48 billion euro turnover in 2011
The German REWE Group has proved itself again, both locally and abroad. The total turnover increased namely by 3,3% to 48,4 billion euro in 2011, as per gabot.de. In Germany the REWE Group grew by 3,2% to 34,9 billion euro and REWE grew with this clearly more than the branch average. And although the results of the economic crisis still influence most Eastern European countries the turnover of REWE abroad increased by 3,6% to 13,5 billion euro.
The REWE Group closed the financial year 2011 with record turnovers. Despite the continuing difficult competitive situation our companies have developed extremely well, both in the retail and in the tourism sector. All departments of REWE Group national and international have contributed to this growth in turnover, as per Alain Caparros, chairman of the REWE Group management during the press conference in Cologne.
Also the first quarter of the 2012 financial year has started successfully for the group. "In the first quarter of 2012 the REWE-concern reached a strong increase in turnover of 5,1%. In Germany the turnover increased by 4,9%. Abroad the REWE Group had an increase in turnover of 5,4%, as per Caparros.
