Canary Island banana bus will travel around 13 Spanish cities

The Canary Island banana bus started this week its travesl in the Peninsula, visiting 13 cities to let people know about the qualities the product and its importance in daily food, informed Asprocan in a statement.

Bilbao was the chosen city to start and it's expected that until the 11th of June, the bus will stop in Santander, Oviedo, Gijón, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela, Zaragoza, Alcobendas, Móstoles, Madrid, Córdoba and Sevilla, to end in Badajoz.

This route through different points of the Peninsula completes the action taken in other countries like Germany, Belgium and France, where the campaign was developed.

Such a plan, financed by the European Union, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment and Asprocan, has the objective of strengthening the image of the products from those regions.

For the president of Asprocan, Santiago Rodríguez, "it's important that consumers know first hand the cultivation process followed for the banana, in line with the requirements of sustainable farming and complying with the rigorous production standards demanded by the European Union", he explained.
