Aussie and Kiwi farmers join international lobby group

The National Farmers Federation and the Federated Farmers of New Zealand will sign up to a new international agricultural advocacy group.

The World Farmers' Organisation (WFO) was formed last year, to create policy and advocate on behalf of farmers internationally, with the aim of improving their economic situation.

The NFF's Matt Linnegar says state farming organisations won't have to pay more to cover the membership.

"What happens internationally will have an effect back here at home," he said.

"So whether that's in terms of our interest in trade, or a whole host of other issues that the World Farmers' Organisation is currently dealing with, we believe it's very important for Australian farmers to be represented on that international stage."
