Globachem open new business premises
"Increase in fruit weight and reduction in bursting of cherries by Platina"
In the beginning of 2000 the company Globachem was established by Koen Quaghebeur and Els Paesmans. The first focus was plant protection means in two important market segments: top fruit and agriculture. Today Globachem concentrate on the one side on 'young' generic plant protection means and on the other side on new plant characteristic material with application in agri- and horticulture. For various articles patents have been applied. Globachem mainly works with distributors selling the products all over the world.
During Medfel 2012 Globachem introduced the product Platina for the French and Spanish fruit growers. "This product is on the basis of the amino acid tryptophan. Amongst others the product is registered for use on cherries. Platina increases the elasticity of the cell and bursting of the cherries has significantly been reduced. In addition to reducing the bursting the use of Platina also produces a better quality, higher fruit weight and a higher sugar content. Wim explains that the product can also be used not only for cherries but also on pears. With pears the fruit weight increases by about 6 grams on average. The use of Platina is allowed in France, Spain, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary' according to Wim Webers.
At the end of April the producer of generic plant protection means opened the new company premises. Globachem is established in the centre of the Belgian fruit cultivation. The new building in Brustem is a lot bigger than the previous office, which was still in Koen and Els' house in Sint-Truiden. Both business managers have experience in the plant protection sector, because of their previous jobs at wholesaler Hermoo and Boerenbond. Globachem is active in 30 countries at the moment and sells its products through wholesalers and exclusive distributors. The company grew well right from the start and in little more than ten years Globachem has a turnover of more than 50 million Euro with 17 full-time employees. Important clients of the products are France, Poland, Germany, the United Kingdom and Belgium.
