Italy: UNITEC launches UNI

On 20th April 2012, at the headquarters of UNITEC, a leading company in the technological solutions and machines for the fruit and vegetable industry, UNI_BOX, the newest invention by UNITEC. Among the companies there were the managers of CPR System and Euro Pool System.

Angelo Benedetti, president and CEO at UNITEC, showed how UNI_BOX, a machine designed and planned in order to open any collapsible crates (40x60cm) quickly and carefully, is a ahead step compared to the current available technologies.

First of all, the machine was planned to be easily moved from one place to another everywhere you need it even on mezzanines where the packaging lines are supplied in the fruit and vegetable sector. Moreover, UNI_BOX can easily restart when there is a block during the opening of a crate and the opening movement itself was planned in order to be fast (1,200 crates/h) and carefully at the same time.

The machine UNI_BOX is completely transparent so that you can detect any problem during the opening of the crates. Moreover, all the parts which come into contact with water (collapsible crates are usually washed and sterilized before being used again) are made of stainless steel.

The loading of closed crates within the machine can be done by means of transpallets, making the feeding very practical. The feeding can be done manually as well.

UNI_BOX, was designed and developed in one year and six months and it has already been put on trial in some companies and it is already available on the market: both for sale and to hire. At the moment, UNITEC can produce a UNI_BOX machine every 60 days.

After hearing about the machine's technical features, guests could visit the UNITEC plant where they could see the machine working.

UNI_BOX is a further step to use ergonomics in companies, since it relieves workers from a hard, repetitive work. Since last year, UNITEC has been promoting technological innovations aimed at the health of workers in fruit and vegetable companies according to OCRA standards adopted by European Union to define risks at work and how to prevent them.
