EU: Driscoll's reaching peak of raspberry season
This successful raspberry is a unique Driscoll's variety. Both in continental Europe, the United Kingdom and Scandinavia, Driscoll’s raspberries have shown a very strong growth throughout all channels. Retailers experience the so called 'Maravilla-effect', which means a strong growth of the turnover in berries. This spring, apart from their much appreciated varieties Driscoll Maravilla and Driscoll Carmina, Driscoll’s brings new varieties onto the European market, which have a great taste and a long shelf life.
The increasing volumes have been driven by increases in production from new cultivation in the region of Agadir, Morocco, accompanied by existing production in Benelux, Germany, Portugal, Spain and South Africa.
Through a unique breeding programme Driscoll's aim to combine as many good qualities in one variety as possible. This shows in the flavour, appearance and condition of Driscoll’s berries; they taste sweet and fresh, have a nice, intense colour and are long lasting. Driscoll’s raspberry varieties, from Morocco to Belgium, deliver superb tasting berries to the consumer on a consistent basis, whilst guaranteeing great appearance and shelf life as well. They have revolutionised the raspberry supply, delivering the same great taste in winter as during the summer months. Driscoll’s mission is to deliver delight to consumers - and can do so year round - in volumes which are being increased rapidly enough to satisfy demand.
