Spain: Part of kiwi harvest lost

Strong winds in the are during last week weren't that good for the kiwi plantations, property of Francisco Miguéns. The fruit is showing up and buds don't have the proper consistency to support winds over to 70km/h. The consequences are that part of this year's harvest is lost.

Rain added to the burden of already wind weakened branches.

In Miguéns farm, the first of this kind in the area, there are 200 plants and every one of them was affected by the storm. The ones affected will not give any fruit this year.

Although, Francisco Miguéns underlines that is difficult to calculate the damage because he still has to figure out the harvest amount, and the prices for the fruit to be sold.

The wind came in the worst moment for kiwi. With a plantation for more than 30 years, Miguén says that he always had a good production.
