Brazil: Weather helps to increase avocado production

Avocado producers in Jardinópolis (Brazil) are happy with their harvests as the price is good and covers production costs.

A producer has a avocado plantation in Jardinópolis, northeast of São Paulo.
Apart from his own land, him and his family rent other areas in São Paulo and Minas Gerais to cultivate the fruit. A total of 500 hectares, that should produce 10,000 tons this season.

Previously, the harvest started in January and ended in June or July. Now, there's avocado the whole year round.

Producers celebrate also the price for avocado, which topd R$10 per box. Harvested fruits supply the South, Southeast, North and Northeast of the country. "The price is good and the production high, which makes us happy", affirmed the producer.

São Paulo represents 53% of the total avocado harvest in Brazil.
