Spanish horticultural exports grow in amount and value
Spanish exports of fruits and vegetables in February to these countries grew in every case, regarding the same month of 2011. Exports to Germany added up, in February 2012, to 239,474 tons, some 5% more than in the same month of 2011.
Exports to France were of 177,565 tons (+3%), those to the United Kingdom added up to 122,146 tons (+2%) and to the Netherlands added up to 103,685 tons (+2%). These four countries represented 64% of total Spanish exports in February.
Poland and Italy are the next destinations for Spanish exports within the Community. Exports to Poland added up to 61,418 tons, some 14% less than in February 2011 and to Italy, they added up to 59,721 tons, a rise of 9%.
Outside the EU, the main export destination in February was Russia, with 27,975 tons - 71% more than in the same period of 2011.
Regarding sub-sectors, fruit exports in February of 2012 reaced 544,820 tons (+9.7%), with a value of 410 million Euro (+4.7%), while vegetables exports reached 486,664 tons (-0.6%), with a value of 522.2 million Euro (+9%), according to data by the Department of Border Controls and Special Taxes, processed by FEPEX.
