UK: Tong Peal announces sponsorship of World Potato Congress
The UK’s leading designer and manufacturer of agricultural handling and sorting equipment is proud to be supporting the Congress’ Industry Interaction Day.
Taking place on Wednesday 30th May, the industry interaction day will give Congress delegates the chance to visit a number of growers, packers, retailers and scientific institutions including both Luffness Mains in West Lothian and Robert J S Doig Ltd in Perth. The tours will focus on providing advice on seed and growing issues as well as showcasing some of the latest techniques of potato handling in Scottish farming.
Managing director at Tong Peal, Charles Tong, comments: "The Interaction Days are a great chance for visitors to look at the facilities and learn about crops and handling systems. Tong Peal has equipment at both farms, so it made sense for us to get involved.
"Luffness Mains is owned by Allan Stevenson, the Chairman of the Potato Council and Robert J S Doig Ltd is run by RobertDoig, who is also a member of the Potato Council on the seed export committee, so both are very involved in the promotion of the UK potato industry as well as being key growers. Both companies have also made sound investments in solutions to improve their potato production and processes.
"In fact, Luffness Mains actually has Tong Peal’s first Caretaker 2012, complete with our new generation separator the EasyClean, so the Interaction Days will be a perfect opportunity for visitors to see how the machine really can help the handling process in a sustainable and energy efficient way.”
Tong Peal is sponsoring the industry interaction day delegate lunch packs and will be on hand at both farms and will be able to talk about the latest technological developments, including energy saving measures and touch-screen controls, which are available across its latest range of potato processing equipment.
