Marlene and the conquest of Cyprus

It takes only 3 Marlene blue stickers and a little bit of luck to win the prizes at stake in the competition launched by the Italian VOG Consortium in Cyprus. And two kinds of people can be the winners: consumers and retailers.

In the course of one month, finishing on the 15th of April, people can glue three Marlene blue stickers onto one of the special postcards available in 29 different sales points (24 fruit & vegetable shops and 5 supermarkets). These entries will then participate in the extraction to determine the winners of one voucher for €1,000, two vouchers for €500 and ten for €100.

Every postcard compiled must indicate the name of the shop as well as the shopper, before being ‘posted’ in the collection boxes in each of the fruit retailers taking part in the initiative. And in the end, for every prize-winning shopper there will also be a prize-winning shop-owner.

These will be easily recognizable, since each of the 24 participating fruit & vegetable shops will display a prominent competition kit and collection box, while the 5 participating supermarkets will also feature a series of in-store promotion events where hostesses will distribute postcards and gadgets and offer shoppers a taste of Marlene apples.

The competition will also be publicized by an intense media campaign that includes TV and radio promotions as well as billboard displays in Cyprus’s most important shopping areas.

"The Mediterranean markets are turning out to be increasingly strategic for us", comments Gerhard Dichgans, VOG Consortium Director, who concludes "We have been active in Cyprus for some years now, and – thanks to good partnerships with local operators and well organized communication and marketing campaigns – we have succeeded in catching the attention and the fidelity of a lot of shoppers."
The Marlene initiatives on Cyprus are organized in collaboration with Amalthia Trading, the island’s exclusive VOG apple distributer.
