Increasing export from Vietnam to Europe

Vietnamese business owners can see their export turnover figures increase. In 2011 they increased by over 25% in a years time. This is for the export in fuel, clothes, food and waterproducts.

The export of fruit to Europe has increased by 50% in the past few years. The export of the Vietnamese pineapple, especially, has grown a lot in the last few years: from 400,000 tonnes in 2006 to 900,000 tonnes in 2011. Other fruits from Vietnam, such as banana's, grapefruit, lemon, papaya, lychee and dragonfruit are also popular on the European markets.

Due to the economic recession Europeans are buying less luxury products to keep the same consumption level for the products of primary necessity of life although the preference here is for products with a low price.

Vietnamese companies profit from this. They are aware that they will have to take the crisis into account, which means companies may go bankrupt. The Vietnamese companies will also have to prepare for stricter checks and new norms that the European Union will pass this year.
