The cheer came in the form of a sizeable donation of fresh Fairtrade fruit, which included oranges and soft citrus from Egypt, pineapples from Ghana and grapes from South Africa. Alongside the fruit, Fairtrade posters, leaflets and stickers helped create a colourful display.
The children had played their part too by creating their own Fairtrade Fortnight display on the wall of the ward’s playroom prior to the Univeg visit. Staff and parents were similarly interested to learn about the real life stories of how Univeg’s Fairtrade projects are having a positive effect on the local communities involved.
James England of Univeg Katopé UK said, “We hope that the children will enjoy the fruit and understand the benefits of being healthy, whilst at the same time learning about Fairtrade”
