Dirk van Nieuwkerk positive about start of Dutch season

"EU: "Wide demand for tomatoes"

The sales of tomatoes over the last few weeks went reasonably well. According to Dirk Nieuwkerk of Anaco Greeve there is a good relationship between demand and supply. "No country at the moment supplies lots of tomatoes, although Spain will have a somewhat bigger supply in the coming weeks. The demand for tomatoes is wide. Actually everybody is involved to some extent."

Dirk looks confidently at the Dutch season. "I am not at all negative. Prices are reasonable the last few weeks and even a little higher than last week. We really do not have reasons to complain now. This afternoon I will collect the first crate of loose tomatoes from Pieter Hoogerbrugge in Steenbergen. Therefore we are ready for it!"
