Italy: Officine Mingozzi presents new frontier in flame weed control

Flame weeding has gone beyond its use as a mere weeding technique to be reinterpreted as a method to control and reduce inoculum levels, caused by farm waste, in the soil of vineyards and fruit farms.

The new machinery from Officine Mingozzi in Ferrara (www.pirodiserbo.it) has been built to proper control heat dispersion by means of air jets. Working speed can vary between 3 to 5 km/h.

The aim is to use a low environmental impact method that does not pollute the environment and produces no waste. Properly used, flame weeding is a key tool in the biological crop sector and becomes a helpful aid to fight fungi and bacteria in traditional crops.
