At Fruit Logistica 2012, UGBP, a Brazilian company producing and selling papaya and ginger, presented their last innovation: QR coding in their products with the end objective of each client being able to monitor the specific characteristics of the product they will consume.

By scanning the QR code in a smartphone or tablet, the client can view a 1.5 minute video, detailing the whole harvesting, recollection and packaging process for UGBP papaya, giving trust and confidence to consumers about the origin of products.

“UGBP has the capacity to make 1,000 pallets per week, 4,000 per month, which might mean that 4,000,000 people can have a UGBP papaya in their hands. Such people can see the UGBP video via the QR code. The idea for the future is that after presenting this video, clients can download a ringtone with a theme from Brazil, revealed Frederico Tavares from UGBP.
