EDEKA Minden-Hannover doing better

EDEKA Minden Hannover have continued turnover growth in 2011. The turnover of the company increased by about 250 million Euro to 6.9 billion Euro in 2011 compared to 2010.

EDEKA Minden-Hannover developed into a regional company of the EDEKA-group with the largest turnover. In total there are seven regional companies. EDEKA Minden-Hannover have done better than the total group with an increase of 4.5%, which grew by 3%. All three departments of the company (retail, wholesale and production) played their part in the good development.
 
The most important part of EDEKA Minden-Hannover is the retail trade. In this area
EDEKA Reichelt supermarkets in Berlin did better with an increase of 4.4%. Also Marktlauf could continue the positive trend with a slight growth. The transfer of EDEKA supermarkets to independent entrepreneurs was continued consequently by EDEKA Minden-Hannover in 2011 as well. Of the total of 27 supermarkets 23 were transferred to entrepreneurs just starting out. The focal point of the privatization was in Berlin with 13 EDEKA Reichelt supermarkets. The EDEKA supermarkets, which were run by independents developed above average in 2011 as far as turnover was concerned.
 
Also the total sales area of EDEKA Minden-Hannover increased by about 33.400 m2 to 1.7 million m2. The increase in turnover and area also increased the number of jobs. The number of employees increased by 571 persons to 32,027 with effect from 31 December 2011.
