The Greenery increase cooperation with John Baarda

After a number of difficult years, both financial and operational, John Baarda Ltd.,
the largest tomato grower in England, have requested further assistance from Greenery UK Ltd. The transaction was finalized on 19 January 2012. The management of John Baarda Ltd. accepted the financial conditions proposed by Greenery UK Ltd. "Because of the difficult circumstances this is the best option for the company, the staff and the creditors," as per David Baarda, general director of John Baarda Ltd. from Billingham. "The Greenery have the knowledge and capital to realise the vision we had for John Baarda Ltd."

"This step is in line with the strategy of the Greenery to look for possibilities of cooperation with local producers in the core of the market. In this way we keep our interest in the market and are in a position to anticipate the wishes of our clients and consumers. By cooperating with local growers we have chosen to grant the necessary finances" as per Kevin Doran, general director of Greenery UK Ltd.

Nigel Bartle, present general director of Cornerways Nursery in Wissington, will with effect from 1 March 2012 become general director of John Baarda Ltd. Both, Cornerways Nursery and John Baarda Ltd. are members of Cooperation Coforta. A new management and a board of consultants have been appointed for John Baarda Ltd., consisting of Theo van Noord, glasshouse vegetable grower in the Netherlands and member of the membership board of Cooperation Coforta, Nigel Bartie and Kevin Doran, the chairman of the management. David Baarda will remain involved in the company as a consultant in the transitional and transfer period.
