Netherlands: More demand for mushrooms expected due to cold and offers

The mushroom market is reasonably quiet. "It is somewhat quieter than normal. We had some durability problems with the mushrooms, but the supply of the white mushrooms is reasonable," Tonny Hooijmans of H&S Trading from Liessel, the Nederlands says. The trade prices are at a level of about 1.30 Euro.

"Sales of shii-taekes are doing well. The oyster mushroom is coming up and the market for portabellas is rather limited" the mushroom dealer explains. "The demand is rather wide. I expect that demand will increase somewhat in the coming weeks. Cold weather stimulates the sale of mushrooms and there will definitely be some supermarket offers."
