Spain: Orange export continues to grow

The orange export is still on the right course. This is indicated by the statistics of third countries in the Management and Citrus Committee. According to data, until 14 January from the state´s territory 149,690 tons of citrus had been referred to states outside the European Union, 1,276 more than in the same date, last season. The data, despite being from state, can be extrapolated to the territory in Castellón, as pointed out by the technical secretary of FEPAC-Asaja, Doménec Nacher.

Asociex President, Jorge Garcia, acknowledges that this season "will be good for exports," as it will keep the tonnage of the past, when there was a significant increase. However, Garcia notes that since fruit will be cheaper, less money will come.

Russia, with 18,268 tons (+33.8%), Brazil with 5,999 (+80%), Canada with 7,272 (+39%), UAE Arabs with 2848 (+173%), and Norway, with 22,013 tons (14% more), are the countries where most have improved shipments. In contrast to the U.S. and Switzerland which have decreased.
