Argentina: Pomegranates ready for export beginning of March

Pomegranate harvesting in Argentina is going quite well. The fruit beats the 15 degrees Brix and has good acidity. This week fruit is already ripening. Climate is not affecting production and environmental conditions are adequate to get a good quality fruit.

Price for pomegranates are stable and exporters affirm that as it's the Premium pomegranate market they expect that the price will hold. 4 kilo boxes are between US$20 and US$22 as FOB price and it's quite similar for producing countries like Argentina, Chile and Peru.

Main pomegranate producers in South America are Argentina, Chile and Peru. Argentinian exporters believe that their fruit will be the first to go to the international market, specially with exports to Europe by the end of February and begin of March. One of the main varieties that Argentina produces is Wonderful and Acco.
