Peruvian agricultural exports will not be affected by the global crisis due to sales recovery in some markets in Europe and the U.S., and significant growth potential in Asia and Latin America, said Sierra Exportadora.
The president of Sierra Exportadora, Alfonso Velásquez, said that Peru's agricultural exports are focused on segments whose affluent consumers are very demanding in quality, size and presentation.
He stated that Peruvian agricultural exports have a high acceptance in the Asian markets, and said that greater demand and better prices will come in 2012.
"The Peruvian agricultural exports could well focus on Asian markets as a strategy of diversification," he pointed out.
He stressed that China is a huge market for cherries, products whose prices are high because a box costs USD$150, while one of grapes is USD$ 60.
"Seeing it this way grapes, which are a flagship product, have no point of comparison with berries," said Velasquez.
