concern among suppliers

Italy: Milani & Fragor Group closes its fruit and vegetable activities

Milani & Fragor Group spa, a Verona-based leading fruit and vegetable company, closed its marketing structure in Torricelli and in the large pavilion of Veronamercato, and directs its activities towards the food sector.

This closure, even partial, is a cause of concern for the sector and for the entire provincial economy.

Some suppliers reported to FreshPlaza: "With great sadness we received the decision of the liquidation of Milani & Fragor Group spa, who were busy for many decades in the fruit and vegetable trade, but we respect the Milani family's wishes to continue to invest in closer agri-food industry through Milani Food srl."

"Unfortunately, in the last days, all suppliers received a letter from the law office in charge of the liquidation of Milani & Fragor Group spa, which shows no good news for many creditors."

"Very many thanks to the Milani family for their commitment investing for three generations in our industry, but we ask them to put on a side the lawyers and the accounting auditors, solving personally the debt situation and sacrificing, if necessary, a small part of their personal wealth, avoiding in this way to create great inconvenience to those farms that have grown with great effort the fruit of the land, from which the Milani family received a lot."

"Sure about the sensibility that characterizes the Milani family in safeguarding farms, we hope for a total resolution of outstanding claims."
