The Myanmar Avocado Producers and Exporters Association (MAVO) reports that this season's high-quality Hass avocados will be exported mainly to Singapore and Thailand. Last year, production reached about 3,000 tons of Hass avocados during the harvest period, and MAVO expects output to exceed that volume this year.
Hass and Buccaneer avocados, both commonly grown in Myanmar, are primarily consumed in major urban markets such as Yangon and Mandalay. The association encourages growers to prioritise varieties aligned with current demand, stating that locally grown avocados continue to see strong interest in both domestic and export channels.
Myanmar's avocado harvest typically runs from September to December. In addition to Hass, varieties such as Buccaneer, 034, Booth 7, and Amara are supplied to domestic buyers and exported to foreign markets.
Myanmar has about 25,000 acres of avocado production, equal to roughly 10,117 hectares. Plantings are located across Shan State, Mandalay Region, Chin State (South), Sagaing Region, Kachin State, and Kayah State.
