New Zealand fresh produce company LeaderBrand has introduced two new salad products, Mexican and Rocketslaw, in response to the country's growing preference for Mexican-style meals.
Recent consumer research indicates that many New Zealand households rely on a limited range of weeknight meals, with Mexican cuisine becoming one of the most common choices. Market data shows that about one-third of New Zealanders prepare Mexican dishes weekly, and sales of Mexican ingredients and related products continue to grow faster than other international cuisines.

LeaderBrand General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Bevan Roach, said that the new additions were developed to align with these food trends and to offer convenient meal options. "Convenience continues to be a big motivator for shoppers, but our customers also want meals that are healthy with fresh and nutritious ingredients. Mexican food ticks a lot of these boxes, which is why we think there has been such an upswing in demand and sales of this style of cuisine," Roach said.
The Rocketslaw salad combines wild rocket, red cabbage, green cabbage, and carrot, served with a lemon mayonnaise dressing. The Mexican salad includes iceberg lettuce, carrots, and red cabbage, paired with a sour cream-based dressing.
According to LeaderBrand, all produce for the new salads is grown locally, with vegetables washed and prepared at the company's salad processing facility before packaging. The salads are now available in major supermarkets across New Zealand.
