Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has launched a pilot freight shipment along the newly established corridor "Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China – Mongolia," according to news agency Dunyo.
The pilot project is aimed at helping domestic producers access new markets and at establishing regular cargo transport along the new road corridor.
The route, which passes through the Altai Mountains with challenging terrain, includes sections that rise to 1,500 meters above sea level. Uzbekistan's national carrier completed the 4,500-kilometer journey in 8 days.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the corridor opens up new opportunities for trade and logistics between participating countries. It is expected to increase the volume of exports and imports, broaden trade geography, and reduce delivery times.
