Australian almond sales up 9%

Demand for Australian almonds continues to grow in the opening two months of the 2025–26 selling season.

The latest Almond Board of Australia sales position report shows that domestic sales are up 9% compared to the same period last year, and overall volumes have increased by 3%, with domestic demand leading the way.

This rise in domestic demand has been supported by a new marketing campaign featuring industry ambassadors—MasterChef celebrity Poh Ling Yeow and Olympic swimming champion Kyle Chalmers. The campaign has helped keep almonds top of mind for consumers in an increasingly competitive healthy snacking market, even amid ongoing cost-of-living pressures.

Interest from China has been slightly muted in the early part of the season, with sales down 5%, while Indian in-shell almond sales have risen 14%. Ongoing uncertainty in the Chinese market, largely due to the trade conflict with the USA, appears to be slowing buying activity until there is greater clarity on tariffs.

Meanwhile, Turkiye is emerging as a significant market for Australian almonds. New season demand—believed to be mostly for manufacturing-grade material—has surged by 178% compared to the same period last year.
