Reusable packaging operations expand in Germany

Tosca, a provider of reusable packaging and pooling solutions, has expanded its operational infrastructure in Germany with the launch of a new service centre in Salzkotten and the enlargement of its existing facility in Frechen. These developments are aimed at supporting increasing demand from retail partners and improving supply chain capabilities across Central Europe.

The newly established service centre in Salzkotten opened on February 1, 2025. It spans 3,300 square metres and has an annual handling capacity of approximately 3.1 million trips for reusable plastic half pallets. The facility is designed to meet the growing use of reusable transport solutions, particularly in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.

In parallel, the service centre in Frechen has undergone a major expansion, effectively doubling its footprint. The upgrade adds capacity for an estimated 2 million additional half-pallet trips per year. The expansion is part of efforts to prepare for anticipated business growth of over 30% in 2025 and aims to maintain consistent service across Tosca's network.

Both developments are part of a broader strategy to enhance the efficiency and reach of reusable transport solutions for retail and FMCG clients in the region. The infrastructure upgrades support a joint programme with several Central European retail chains and aim to improve operational resilience and flexibility.

Marco Gonzalez, Managing Director for Central Europe, noted that these expansions align with the need to meet rising demand while maintaining service standards. The expanded facilities are expected to improve Tosca's ability to manage increased pallet flows and support logistics operations across Germany.
