On May 14, members of the Moldova Fruct Association held a series of meetings in Romania with representatives from the Regional Center for Agricultural Investment Financing in Iași, the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA), and local fruit producers. The visit aimed to learn from Romania's experience using European Union funds for rural development and fruit support production.
Discussions focused on the support measures available to orchard owners, producer associations, and farmer groups under Romania's National Strategic Plan for 2023–2027. Special attention was given to how EU funding has contributed to strengthening rural areas and value chains in agriculture, insights that may inform Moldova's own Strategic Agricultural Policy Program for 2026–2030, currently under development by the Ministry of Agriculture.
"Romania has significant experience using EU funds to enhance rural development and strengthen agri-food value chains. We hope this collaboration will grow into an ongoing dialogue that will help shape an effective, locally adapted agricultural policy for the Republic of Moldova," said Vitalie Gorincioi, Chairman of Moldova Fruct.
The Moldovan delegation also visited the Fruit Growers' Association in Itesti, Bacău County, where they reviewed modern practices in irrigation, orchard management, and farmer cooperation.
