In April 2025, the Kaliningrad region received over 37,000 tons of imported fruits and vegetables, according to regional inspection authorities. The shipments primarily came from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Germany, and other countries.
As part of phytosanitary inspections, officials checked all produce for pests and diseases. Out of the total, 92 shipments were found contaminated, leading to:
100 tons of vegetables and fruits were destroyed.
222 tons subjected to treatment.
Despite these cases, the majority of the imported fruits and vegetables passed inspection and were approved for distribution in the region.
