Tajikistan expands dried fruit exports across 26 countries

Tajikistan continues to strengthen its position as a leading dried fruit exporter in Central Asia. In the first quarter of 2025, the country exported over 26,500 tons of dried fruits worth more than $9.4 million.

This growth continues a positive trend observed in previous years:

  • 2023: 81,800 tons
  • 2024: 90,100 tons

According to the Ministry of Economic Development, export volume is projected to grow by 12% and value by 16% by the end of 2025, compared to 2024.

Key markets include CIS countries, Germany, China, and Turkey, with over 70% of exports going to Russia and Kazakhstan.

Top destinations in Q1 2025:

  • Kazakhstan: 62,000 tons, $11.9 million
  • Russia: 7,688 tons, $12.8 million
  • Belarus: 701 tons, $1.17 million
  • Turkey: 1,446 tons, $381,000
  • Uzbekistan: 1,629 tons, $360,000
  • Ukraine: 603 tons, $234,000

Tajik dried fruit reaches more than 26 countries, with top exports including dried apricots (kuraga), raisins, prunes, figs, and nuts.

Despite facing strong competition from Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as logistical and cost challenges, the industry is gaining momentum. Investments in modern drying and packaging technologies, along with expanded trade routes, are turning the dried fruit sector into one of Tajikistan's most promising export industries.
