Construction has begun on a new fruit juice concentrate facility in the village of Kobolchyn, Chernivtsi region in western Ukraine. The plant will be capable of processing up to 1,500 tonnes of fruit per day.
According to regional authorities, the main products will include apple juice concentrate as well as juices from locally grown raspberries, cherries, sour cherries, and plums. Fruit will be sourced from farmers in the region and neighboring areas, offering a boost to local agricultural producers.
The facility will be part of a 12-hectare industrial park that will include warehouses, water treatment and drying units, administrative buildings, and transport infrastructure.
In a sustainable twist, the plant will also produce biogas from fruit processing waste, which will be used to heat local community buildings.
The project is expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2025. Preparatory work, including documentation and permitting, is currently underway.
