Indonesian mangosteen exports look promising

The mangosteen harvest in Indonesia is just getting underway. Also known as the 'Queen of Fruits', the mangosteen is grown in Padang, Sumatra, and also Purwakarta and Sukabumi in Java. Minyaci Kehidupan Indonesia harvests the fruit twice a year, firstly in January and February and then again from April to early June.

"The quality which we are seeing is very good," said Chintya Tjoeng from the company. "We are expecting good prices this season as we already have orders from our Chinese customers. We have also had some orders from Germany, although these are smaller than our Chinese ones."

Minyaci Kehidupan can supply 2-3 containers per week, sourced from growers. The growing area covers 4,200 hectares.

"We mostly ship via sea freight but also export some volumes via air freight."
