"I want to bring supply and demand together"

Dennis Koemans launches D-Traders after 11 years at Davis Europe

After 11 years at Davis Europe, Dennis Koemans decided he was ready for a new challenge at the end of 2024. "I felt it was time to start something of my own, to fully focus on trading—bringing supply and demand together," says Dennis, who officially launched his trading company, D-Traders, in February. "Over the past few years, I have built up the expertise and relationships needed to create something great. Trading is a craft, which is why many don't dare to take the leap."

Since 1 February, he has been operating under the name D-Traders. "With this, I really want to provide service and take the burden off my clients. I connect supply and demand," Dennis explains. "On the supply side, for example, if a company has an issue with a product that doesn't meet their customer's requirements, they call me, and I find an alternative outlet—whether in wholesale markets across Europe or the industry. This can apply to any product. Whether it's watermelons that have overheated and are no longer suitable for their intended market or oversized oranges that don't fit standard packaging requirements, I regularly come across such products and have customers for everything."

"On the demand side, it works the same way," he continues. "If someone is looking for a specific product, I go and source it. Thanks to my experience, I have established supply lines from South America, Africa, and Asia. My role is to take the hassle out of the process. I act as the eyes and ears of a company. If someone in Portugal, for instance, is looking for pears, I go directly to the grower, inspect the trees, visit the sorting facility, and check the cold storage. I build strong relationships with my clients, so I know exactly what they need and can find them the right product."

"Essentially, just like a company's own staff, I take a product to market and find the right buyer for it. In a way, my clients get additional staff with specialized expertise—something that is hard to afford these days. I can also arrange groupage transport, delivering products directly from grower to customer. This includes handling invoices and effectively eliminating the middleman. I work on a commission basis, which ensures full transparency. My goal is to grow D-Traders into a stable and reliable business in the coming years. The future remains uncertain, but I am really looking forward to working with companies—whether they are importers, exporters, wholesalers, or supermarket suppliers. Anyone is welcome to work with me," Dennis concludes.
