Orange prices drop by up to €48/100 kg across southern Europe in 2024/2025 season

Orange prices have shown distinct patterns across Spain, Greece, Italy, and Portugal during the months from October to February in the current (2024/2025) season compared to the previous (2023/2024) season. In Spain, the 2024/2025 prices (red line) started lower in October at €88/100 kg, compared to €95/100 kg in the previous season (green line). Prices steadily declined through the winter months, reaching €85/100 kg by November, and falling to €76/100 kg in December. This suggests a steeper decrease in the current season.

In Greece, a significant drop is evident between the two seasons. October 2024/2025 prices began at €74/100 kg, notably lower than the €122/100 kg in 2023/2024. This downward trend intensified through November, where prices hit €61/100 kg compared to €104/100 kg the previous year. By December, the decline continued, with the 2024/2025 season registering €52/100 kg compared to the previous season's €57/100 kg, indicating a converging trend at the lower price range.

Meanwhile, Italy experienced a steady rise. November prices in the 2024/2025 season reached €144/100 kg, slightly exceeding the previous year's €132/100 kg. Prices then slightly dropped through December, maintaining relatively higher values of €142/100 kg in the current season compared to €135/100 kg last year. Italy shows more resilience, with the 2024/2025 prices consistently outpacing the previous year.

Finally, in Portugal, orange prices in the 2024/2025 season began at €83/100. While prices declined to €76/100 kg by November and climbed again to €81/100 kg by December, they remained consistently below the 2023/2024 values.
