The Ministry of Economy of Georgia announced the export of 500 tonnes of blueberries to the European Union and the United Kingdom, under the Lead Generation Programme. This initiative is designed to facilitate connections between local producers and international buyers, thereby broadening the avenues for market expansion. A portion of the blueberries has already reached its destination markets.
The programme is a collaborative effort involving Enterprise Georgia, the United States Agency for International Development's Agriculture Programme, and the Rural Development Agency of Georgia's Ministry of Agriculture. Enterprise Georgia's CEO, Mikheil Khidureli, highlighted the export of an "unprecedented volume" of blueberries through this scheme.
Georgian entrepreneurs interested in exporting their products are encouraged to engage with the programme. "This presents a great opportunity to find a strategic partner and establish a favourable contract. I believe with such targeted engagements, we can make a significant impact on the country's export statistics," stated Khidureli. Future initiatives will aim at connecting potential buyers with Georgian producers in various sectors, including textiles, packaging materials, toys, and feed additives.
