Measures have been taken to export litchis from Dinajpur to a number of countries, including France. Bangladesh’ growers hope this will massively benefit local farmers alongside boosting the country's export earnings. In line with the move, the authorities concerned have initiated the process to send the litchis with the help of the French embassy in Bangladesh and French importers.
Litchis are grown all over Bangladesh, but the favourable climate and soil conditions in some northern districts, such as Dinajpur, are much more conducive to the growth of the fruit. The litchis of Dinajpur are very popular all over the country because of their taste and sweetness.
