Growing beans or melons in China? Then, beware of the agriculture police

Chinese President Xi Jinping's so-called agricultural police numbers 87,000 officers. They check that growers in China cultivate only government-approved crops. These often unprofitable crops like rice, soy, or corn are meant to boost self-sufficiency. It is strictly forbidden to plant products such as beans, melons, or pumpkins. The video below shows how the agricultural police operate.

Farmers can only plant the crops the government approves.
