Pierre Gélébart, Prince de Bretagne:

“The artichoke season has started in Brittany”

The first large artichokes from Brittany have arrived on the market. “The mild temperatures and rainfall of the last few days have delayed the production but many plots are now close to maturity,” explains Pierre Gélébart, product manager at Prince de Bretagne. “They are just waiting for warmer temperatures and the volumes should increase very quickly, definitely by next week.”

Regarding the small purple ones, there is already great potential. The season started a month ago and we already have full season crops available.”

Change in size
This year, the size of the large artichokes is getting simpler. They will be available in 12, 15, 24 and 30 heads and sold in 60x40 packaging. Packages of 40x30 for 6-8 heads are also available for sale.
