Sri Lanka to export organic bananas to Dubai markets weekly

Sri Lanka’s first organic sour banana harvest is to be exported to the Dubai market in the next few days. The harvesting of sour bananas of the Jaffna sour banana project, which has been promoted as an organic crop, and processing activities were set to start on May 3.

Arrangements have been made to export 25,000 kg of organic sour bananas from Jaffna to the Dubai market each week. Sri Lanka exports 12,500 kg of sour bananas from the Rajanganaya Sour Banana Project to the Dubai market every Saturday. Currently, two banana export model villages, Rajanganaya and Jaffna, have been established by the Agriculture Sector Modernization Project under the Ministry of Agriculture.
