Estonian berry distributor strikes deal with Latvian retailer to supply consumers directly

The Estonian importer, hyper-focused distributor, and point of sales booth manager of fresh berries in retail stores nationwide, is heading to Latvia. This is a significant breakthrough for No Bananas in its Baltic berry revolution with the aim to have 400 selling points across the region. Estonia is the northernmost of those three countries, Latvia and Lithuania being the other two.

According to Andero Keronen, CEO of No Bananas, they will soon have stands at 19 Narvesen convenience stores in Riga, Latvia’s Capital. “That makes it a great day for No Bananas! It's a great day for Latvians too. They'll have a chance to buy from our berry stalls in their home country.”

The No Bananas team will fill the stalls with fresh berries every day. The sales team will continually check the quality of the berries to ensure that Latvian customers get the best berries possible, from the first berries to the last and every berry in between. That’s the way it’s done in Estonia. That same high-quality service will be delivered in Latvia too, says Keronen.

“Breaking into the Latvian market is big news and has been a long time coming. So, a huge thank you to Narvesen for agreeing to let us put our berry stands in their stores,” says Keronen excitedly.

No Bananas sells strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and peas in 100+ service points in stores and malls across Estonia. They also have an e-shop that enables them to deliver to customers’ doors seven days a week.

“We source mainly from Spain and Greece and later on local production in the summer time. Depending on the season we also use products from Holland, Serbia and Poland but no regular lines from those countries. For us the origin is not so important but the flavour of the product and quality in general,” states Keronen.

Narvesen is a Norwegian chain with a strong presence in Latvia and Lithuania. They entered the Latvian market in 1997 and have 228 stores throughout the country. “Nineteen is just a start for No Bananas. Once established, we will look to work with other chains in Latvia and eventually in Lithuania. We have a long way to go. It was a long way to get here. Thank you, Narvesen! We look forward to working with you and welcoming Latvians to our berry stalls."

"No Bananas’ vision since the beginning has been to have 400 selling points across the Baltics. Our cooperation with Narvesen in Latvia is the turning point to seeing that vision come true. Thank you to the team at No Bananas! There are no berries and no business without all of you,” says Keronen.

Keronen emphasizes this with his now well-known company slogan - “That’s no bulls**t!”
