Since this year, K-D Hermann contact-Auszeichnungssysteme has been offering a corresponding digital solution for this purpose, for which there is already lively interest, as Harald Jantzen tells us. Classic and digital labels in harmony
The contact labeling systems company, which has been in business since the 1980s, has focused on the sale of various labeling systems. However, the company's core activity still includes printing and manufacturing labels, he said. "We started with classic labeling systems in 1980s and later added sales promotion products to the range. It has always been important for us to evolve, so the logical conclusion was to set up contact-Digital. However, we do not want to neglect the classic labeling systems. We work here according to the motto: doing one thing without leaving the other."

With contact-Digital, the company has so far been represented exclusively in German-speaking countries, he said, although the products as a whole are sold internationally. "We are a German company offering German software, coupled with a German cloud if desired. This also ensures a high level of data security."

Flexible adaptations to different requirements
Within three years, the digital system was built together with a German software developer. Decisively, the digital offer came to bear with regard to the large price fluctuation, In addition, however, there would also be the massive shortage of personnel in virtually all areas. During project planning/preliminary design, customer wishes and specific requirements are already discussed and implemented directly. "Since we work closely with our software developers we can quickly and flexibly respond to special customer requests."

Their customers include retailers, as well as the hotel and restaurant industry, beverage distributors and fresh produce services, not to mention fruit and vegetable stores, where price and product changes occur almost daily. Here, they access labels, some of which are time-controlled, and take advantage of the fast price conversion.

"There is still a very high demand in the fresh produce sector for labels with price reductions or 'I still have a shelf life' inscriptions. We don't yet want to reproduce this completely digitally, as this is also intended to convey a certain emotionality as well as quick contact with the customer, which can still be reflected very well via the classic labels. In addition, manual labeling does not require electricity, while the devices are very stable. In addition, anyone can operate them. So you don't need any special know-how for this."
