The mango market is picking up well, according to Marcel van Rooijen of Trofi from Den Hoorn. "In Peru, production has now moved to the Casma area where very few and many small sizes are coming from this year. Sales prices are still 20% lower than last year. I expect those prices to go up sharply in the coming weeks because of the shortages that are going to occur."
"Exports from Casma are going down heavily this week and will be insignificant. Brazil steps in on time and is in the market for the next five weeks with nice arrivals of Keitt and Palmer mangoes, providing a nice bridge up to the Ivorian season. The first arrivals from Brazil are of exceptionally good quality," says Marcel.
"In Côte d'Ivoire, harvest will start at the end of week 14. We expect the first real volumes to arrive on the market only sometime around week 17."
