Mexico: Agro-exports saw record values in 2022

According to the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mexican agro-exports achieved a record value of $50.13 billion in 2022. This represents year-over-year growth of 12.9%, compared to 2021’s export market value of $44.69 billion.

SADER data shows that for the year, Mexico’s total value of agri-food trade, considering both the domestic market and exports, was valued at $94.46 billion, with 53% of this amount due to exports.

The most valuable fresh produce exports were avocados, tomatoes, strawberries and raspberries, with avocados being the 3rd most important agri-food product in the country with a value of $3.55 billion

Mexico is the world leader in exports of avocados and tomatoes, and the value of these two industries to the national economy has only grown as their export volume has steadily increased.
