Bankrupt Brazilian retailer Americanas SA said it has offered a capital injection to its creditors of 10bln reais ($1.93bln) which would come from top shareholders.

WARP, a tech-powered freight network specializing in middle-mile solutions, announced that it has launched “DirectFresh” a service enabling perishable shippers with same-day and next day direct store delivery. The service offers shippers an end-to-end solution for their fresh freight including manufacturer to cold storage transfers and high touch, in-store deliveries. WARP’s DirectFresh service enables shippers to transfer product from cold storage directly to a store or a WARP Station (cross dock) depending on their inventory needs within the same day without needing to work with a last-mile delivery service.

US: Nalley Fresh to open within Giant Food store
Giant Food is testing a new foodservice-at-retail partnership. According to local media reports, a Giant Food store in Ellicott City, Maryland, is close to opening a Nalley Fresh outpost. The Baltimore-based fast-casual chain specializes in salads, bowls and wraps and currently operates nine locations in Maryland, including a site at Baltimore/Washington International Airport. The first Nalley Fresh within a Giant Food store will be unveiled at the end of March at 9200 Baltimore National Pike.

Australia: Aldi sued over ‘copycat’ snacks
Supermarket chain Aldi is being sued for “alleged” copyright breaches by organic snack food brand, Little Bellies. According to The Australian Financial Review, Hampden Holdings - which owns the intellectual property for the Baby Bellies, Little Bellies and Mighty Bellies snack ranges and licenses the brands to Every Bite Counts - said the supermarket chain “ripped off” its Organic Blueberry Puffs, Carrot Puffs and Apple & Cinnamon Puffs since August 2021.
