Representatives of the global banana industry will meet again to analyze new trade routes and challenges

After four years of absence, the banana sector will hold the 9th International Banana Congress this year. Representatives of the banana sector will meet at the event to discuss and analyze the new routes of the banana industry, analyze the sector's challenges, and carry out business.

The National Banana Corporation (CORBANA), the governing body of the Banana Industry of Costa Rica, is preparing a disruptive event for the entire banana production sector worldwide.

The topics of discussion will include the challenges that the diseases that can affect the fruit pose to the industry, the economy of the producing countries, and what is happening with the Fusarium Race 4 disease. Producers will also be able to analyze how consumer tastes and market preferences have changed.

Banana producers from Ecuador, Costa Rica, Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the United States, Europe, and Asia have been invited to the event. Trade brands that offer the best products and services to the industry will also participate in the event.

In this 9th edition, there is a robust program in topics that cover data and results in scientific research on Fusarium Race 4 and Black Sigatoka. In addition, participants will learn about the latest trends in logistics and emerging markets.

“We are very excited to carry out once again the International Banana Congress. CORBANA is preparing an event that will allow the entire banana industry to update their knowledge about the latest trends and information worldwide, as well as continue to position their exports and markets," stated Jorge Sauma, general manager of CORBANA. Attendees will also learn about the future of the sector, changes in the prices of inputs, new European regulations for the import of bananas, and novel trends in the banana industry, he added.

The International Banana Congress will be held in Miami, Florida, at the Hyatt Regency hotel, from May 23 to 26.

During the congress, attendees will participate in talks, forums, business meetings, and a trade fair in which companies will showcase the most innovative products and services for banana entrepreneurs.
