New train with fresh produce running from China to Laos and Thailand

A new train carrying about 280 tons of fresh produce from China that travelled through Laos to Bangkok in Thailand has returned taking back durian and other Thai produce back to China.

It is part of China's Belt and Road Initiative to connect countries through railways that was delayed due to China's strict Covid-19 measures. Now that it has been lifted several carts of the train can be filled with fresh produce for the 55 hour journey.

While Thailand has lots of durians to send to China, Laos sends a limited amount of cassava. The train is about 20% faster than trucks over the same route.
