Trofi/Trofi Pack and Van der Helm have been doing business from their new joint distribution center in the Netherlands since April 2020. The building's first two phases consisted of 40,000m2. Van der Helm occupies 24,000m2 and Trofi Pack, 16,000m2. The companies now both have 20,000m2 at their disposal. This week, phase three of the new building was taken into use. It is 4,000m2 and has five ripening cells and room for 1,500 pallets.
"But, we're not only growing in size; we're making great strides in sustainability too. For example, the DC now boasts 9,500 solar panels. That means we're self-sufficient in electricity and our company is CO2 neutral. I'm extremely proud of that," says Gerard van der Helm.
"This growth is proof that our business philosophy works. We can serve clients from A to Z. That's from sea freight and transport to customs clearance, packaging, and order picking. This expansion gives us more space with which to serve our customers," explains Gerard.
Trofi Pack's Harry van der Hout, too, is enthusiastic about the partnership. "Our formula of unburdening clients is catching on. Several new customers have signed up this season as well. Many European retail buyers know where to find us. Especially when it comes to avocados, mangoes, and grapes. It's hard to believe, but the new building was already 70% full this week," he concludes.
